The day I had planned to kill myself, I had mapped out everything by the hour.
For months I had been rolling the idea around in my mind, and now it was finally time.
But at the 11th hour, my family got a call from the police who had been tipped by my best friend who had the goodbye notes I had given him to pass out for me.
Now I was in store for the most dreaded kitchen-table discussion of my life.
Somehow I had to try to explain the deep depression I had been in for months but never let show.
Somehow I had to explain the constant feeling of anxiety and fearfulness that overtook me no matter where I was.
After my suicide plan was interrupted, I got a first hand introduction to the mental health system and how it is leaving people behind.
I was hospitalized, given medications, and put into therapy all in the same week.
I was skeptical anything would help, but I pushed myself to be open minded.
If something could help, I really wanted it to… but nothing did...
I was expecting someone to sit me down, dig deep into what I was feeling, and help me learn how to make things better…
But that never happened...
Instead, I felt like I was being pushed through an assembly line along with all of the others at the hospital.
Everyone seemed to “know” what was best for me without even asking me why I was feeling this way...
The entire process was built off of institutional traditions that were no longer questioned.
We all stood in line to get our morning pills...
We filled out our standard questionnaires that the aids read over with glossy eyes who made little nods and notes, even though they hardly ever looked me in the eyes...
Every person that was there to “help” me seemed like they were really there to analyze me.
It didn’t feel humane...
The whole time I kept thinking “how could you be helping me when you don’t even understand what I’m feeling?”
The hospitalization was a scary and nearly traumatizing experience.
The meds did nothing.
My therapist was a good man with a good soul who seemed to care deeply, but our time together was mostly just talking – not solving anything.
I learned later that this is what most people experience – therapy is a place to feel heard and even understood, but most people leave feeling just as lost as when they entered.
I was one of the lucky ones who recovered naturally and fully on my own.
It was a process to be sure, but after enough research, trial, and error I realized what was necessary to keep depression and anxiety out of my life for good.
I went on to live an extraordinarily fulfilling life for the next several years… The turnaround was unbelievable.
I went to college, landed a job in D.C., and went on to lead and build a multi-million dollar nonprofit organization at the age of 23.
I met the girl of my dreams too…
It seemed like I had it all, until one day something changed…
I started encountering people in my work who were dealing with depression and anxiety who were struggling… bad.
I had previously thought that depression and anxiety must be something temporary for everyone since I had recovered from it...
So why were so many people struggling for years or even decades?
I got hungry for answers… and I found them.
I learned that most people do not find strong or lasting results with the go-to methods of the mental health industry, just like I hadn’t…
Most people have bad experiences with medications or experience short term gains.
And with therapy, most people were feeling listened to but never truly helped to improve their lives…
And I realized that the methods our society goes to first are not working for one simple reason…
The entire mental health industry is aimed at helping people to make peace with their diagnosis and learn to live with it as comfortably as possible… to accept it.
And how could you actually make radical improvements through a system that believes you must accept feeling like garbage and only seek to improve it on the margins?
As someone who knew that a real, powerful, and lasting recovery was indeed possible, I refused to accept that that was the best someone could settle for…
So I set out to find a way to help anyone recover naturally from depression and anxiety.
I started studying every major form of therapy, counseling, or coaching out there by seeking out the few cases in which a real recovery had taken place.
I started reading two books a week, reviewing tapes of successful interventions, and looking for any skill or tool or process that had proof of helping get real results.
I got mentorship from a few of the select therapists and coaches who were actually very effective.
After piecing together what had proven to work for others in the past, innovating with my own methods, and working with countless individuals to solve real problems, I created and refined the SSS Method.
Now, I’m blessed to help people accomplish amazing things like
I’ve had the unique challenge of helping people from all walks of life… from CEO’s, attorneys, medical professionals, and entrepreneurs to people in their retirement, and even teenagers.
After seeing so many unique cases where people who thought they would have depression or anxiety forever beat it, I must tell you that there are...
3 important reasons you may not make a natural recovery:
1. You have to be open minded and coachable.
Most people wrongly assume that they will be depressed or anxious forever because nothing they’ve tried so far has worked.
But unless you are willing to adopt the idea that you can change, you never will.
2. You have to be willing to put in the work.
Although the vast majority of our clients reach a natural recovery in 60-90 days, it is not by doing the bare minimum...
It is by putting in multiple hours a week of applying the right tools.
3. Getting this turned around must be... a must.
People talk all day about how sick and tired they are of being sick and tired....
But less than 5% of people with depression or anxiety will actually draw a line in the sand and truly decide that “I will do what is necessary to beat this.”
While real recovery is possible for just about anyone, only a select few will actually do it.
Since we’ve helped people who have had anxiety so high they cannot leave their house, and we’ve helped people addicted to meth recover,I’m sure we can help you.
But the single, most determining factor of whether or not you will recover is not your background or your symptoms – it is how committed you are to changing.
95% of people will decide every day to keep settling and hoping something changes on its own.
The SSS Method exists for those 5% who will settle for nothing less than getting this truly handled.
The SSS Method is different because of 3 distinct focuses...
Solving – We focus on eliminating the patterns of emotion, thought, and behavior that are reducing your quality of life. We don’t settle for coping with them.
Source – We do not use methods that just cope with the symptoms. That’s how you end up struggling indefinitely. Instead, we go after the source of the issue.
Sustainability – No recovery is worth anything unless you have the tools to make it last. To do that you must have a system to ensure that the old patterns of emotion and thought do not resurface.
So where do you go from here?
What we know after helping so many people recover is that it is almost certainly possible for you, but it all starts with that one simple decision to ask for help.
Unless you are willing to speak up and ask for guidance, I can’t provide it for you.
But if you’ve made it this far, my guess you could probably benefit from a helping hand.
As I see it, here are your options...
Path 1: Keep doing what you’ve been doing and hope that something changes on its own.
(Spoiler alert: it won’t. Depression and anxiety get worse over time in the vast majority of cases, not better.)
Chances are, you already know this. I wish it were different, but it’s not.
Path 2: Acknowledge that nothing changes if… nothing changes, and do something different so you can get a new and better result.
My mission is to change the mental health industry forever by championing each individual’s ability to create a natural recovery, and if I can help you I’d be pleased to do so.
Here’s what I can propose:
I’ll ask a few questions to get to know you and your situation better, what your goals are, and then I’ll advise you on what the best next step is to meet those goals.
As much as I know it can be daunting to speak with a stranger, I can only help you if I can get to know YOU personally better. Fair enough?

Think of me being in the passenger seat as we both drive towards the destination of being depression and anxiety free.
But as you know, the only way we get there is for you to press on the gas.
With respect, love, and sincerity,
– Ty
For the first time, you'll be able to understand the true root cause of your issue and identify what's needed to create a lasting solution.
"When I reached out to Ty to schedule a coaching session, I was privately struggling though a very vulnerable time in life, and desperately needing a breakthrough. I truly felt stuck but was committed to finding a next step to take. Out of the two hours I spent with Ty, I got my life back. For the first time in a long time, I feel I am the source of power in my life rather than at the mercy of my circumstances. I feel connected and alive and more grateful than I can put into words. Needless to say I have made major strides in all areas as a result of creating this new way of being in life. If youā€™re considering reaching out, and looking for a sign do it, here it is. I donā€™t know what youā€™ll get out of your session, but I do know that your life is worth every penny."
"I remember the day I wanted to kill myself like it was yesterday. Everything that could go wrong in my life was going wrong. Imagine every negative feeling known to man washing over you all at once; fear, anxiety, depression, loneliness, confusion, inadequacy, you name it, I was experiencing it. I remember how scared I was to pick up the phone and call Ty about these things. Not only was Ty inspiring, patient, and a good listener, but he helped me understand my mind more than any therapist, counselor, or family member ever has. "
"Ty Hicks should come with a warning label: life-coaching sessions with him are not for the faint of heart. Through our conversations, Iā€™ve become intimately acquainted with my deepest motivations and most shallow excuses. Ty has challenged me to let go of negative patterns and embrace radically new frameworks. Most importantly, our sessions have helped me establish my lifeā€™s purpose. I cannot wait to see how Ty will continue to influence lives over the country, and some day, over the world!"
"Iā€™m definitely one of those guys who is highly cynical of these type of things, but I need you to hear this loud and clear: Ty knows what heā€™s doing. From talking to him just twice Iā€™ve been able to really sort out some issues in my life and find my inner strength to better my situation. Ty is no joke and thereā€™s not a doubt in my mind that he could change your outlook on life just like he did mine. I will eternally be grateful for him and will certainly continue to talk to him."
"Ty is someone who truly wants to see everyone reach their full potential and to reach authentic fulfillment and long-term happiness. Ty is very empathetic, as he has been through everything that he preaches. He has helped me to be brutally honest with myself, understand what changes I need to make, and become incredibly productive, grounded, and energetic every single day. I honestly can't express in words how much Ty has inspired me to become the strongest version of myself."
"Ty has a unique ability to help his clients help themselves. Rather than spoon-feeding suggestions like most others would, Ty enables one to become introspective and identify the road blocks to success. With his one-on-one results coaching, he was able to help me fundamentally restructure my mindset and identify the path to greatness."
"Tyā€™s coaching has helped me realize the opportunities I have within myself that I have always known were there but didnā€™t feel I could reach on my own. Through our sessions I was able to see a future where I am no longer defined by my past but can live in an opportunity of the future I create."
"I was skeptical about doing a session, but after our first one I was hooked. Within the first half hour, we got into the meat of what I wanted my life to look like and how I could achieve my goals. Ty provides practical, straightforward advice, strategies, and exercises, and they work! My relationships have strengthened, I am performing better at work, I am healthy, and I feel like I am living life with purpose and dignity rather than mindlessly floating through my days."
"Thanks to Ty, I am able to view my finances with clearer, renewed, and better-informed eyes. I've cut substantial waste from my own budget and am continuing to do so. This training has also given me many of the tools and much of the perspective necessary to increase my personal income on a more consistent basis. I am now making measurable progress toward achieving much longer-term financial goals."
"Through Tyā€™s direct and a straightforward methods I achieved breakthroughs I never would have realized on my own. After adapting the mental models he provided, I gained immediate clarity and was able to professionally achieve at new heights. A few serious questions and my entire outlook was altered for the better."
"Ty is a magnificent teacher and even better listener. He helped me find areas of my life that I needed to take control over and assisted me in digging deep to align priorities with action. Awesome dude! Highly recommend."
"Not every challenge in life can be solved by you and you alone--and when you call upon someone to help, you need to be able to trust they have your best interests at heart. Ty is that person to trust. Grateful to him for creating breakthroughs in my personal life and career, as well as find piercing clarity in my relationship. Highly recommend no matter what exact real results you want to achieve!"
